Here is another challenge for all groups – We are looking for the best Scout hall makeover in the country.

So it’s time to change that old signage on your building, mow the grass, clean the windows, slap some paint on the walls and get your hall rebranded, looking smart and presentable.

In order to qualify you will need to send us the following information:

· Before and after pictures of your hall showing the changes which have been made.

· Your Troops name and the address of your hall.

The winning Troop will WIN a Scout Branded feather banner!

· Best use of the Scouting branding

All over the world Scouts are "Creating a Better World" by doing remarkable work in the communities in which they live. As Scouts, we are helping to alleviate a number of important social issues ranging from feeding the hungry to creating solutions to environmental issues, through the service projects we do.

22 February is an iconic date on any Scouts' calendar. Cubs and Scouts are invited to wear their uniforms to school! On Sunday 26 February we will be celebrating as a district with a Family Fun Day!

BP Celebrations 2012: All adults (uniformed and non-uniformed) involved with Scouting in Nelson Mandela Bay are invited to the BP Dinner on Saturday 25 February at Cotswold Scout Hall.

Some of the NMB Scout groups participated in the 2011 JOTI and JOTA , an annual event when Scouts and Guides all over the world make contact with each other over the internet or amateur radio.

Scouts who participated in the Green PEA Jamboree earlier this year, had the pleasure of getting to know Mossel Bay leader Wendy Willemse.

Earlier this year 2 pillars of strength in the Scout community received special honours on 2 seperate occasions.

Here are 2 requests from overseas Groups: an exchange of scarves and badges and a request for pen pals for the Cub Faith Badge.

On 13 March 2011, 110 Gauteng Scouts and 3 commissioners got together at Delta Park and the Delta Park Scout Camp Ground to participate for the first time in Africa Scout Day.

Scouts from the Helderberg District in the Western Cape mobilised quickly to support over two hundred fire-fighters and
conservation staff during this weekend’s devastating wild fires on the Helderberg
mountain that saw eleven houses and a hotel burned to the ground.

Climate Change Challenge 2011 - Joint programme with German Scouts.

The St Croix Cubs were treated to a visit by the Bluewater Bay Sector Policing unit on Friday 11^th February. 

Climate change is seriously affecting our planet and for the first time in a very long time S.A. Cubs, Scout and Rovers will combine their efforts to take part in a national themed annual challenge, aimed at creating more awareness around this subject.

Adult Scout staff, committees and parents are invited to a spitbraai get together to celebrate Baden Powell weekend in Nelson Mandela Bay. This annual B.P. dinner will this year take the form of a spitbraai and everybody's invited!

As part of BP weekend 1^st Walmer COH will be hosting the BP campfire (Friday 18th Feb.) and the BP Service (Sunday 20 Feb.) (Fordyce Road, next to school)

The S.A. Scout Advancement programme is currently under review and nearing completion.  There is a whole new section on the National website dedicated to the new Scout Programme Review. 

The Scout Yacht JML Rotary Scout and the team,  who competed in the Governor’s Cup race to St. Helena, did arrive back home late December.

A while ago, a group of hardened St Columba Scouts set out on the 3rd edition of the Survivor St Columba's!

The Governor’s Cup is a 1700 mile yacht race from Cape Town in South Africa, to James Bay on St. Helena Island and Scouts will be part of it!

Via the Western Cape Scouts, another suppliers of sleeping bags and backpacks has offered their products to Scouts. (or possibly the same company Brett Forbes talked about a while ago)
