South African Scouters honoured.

Earlier this year 2 pillars of strength in the Scout community received special honours on 2 seperate occasions.

 

In April 2011, Dudley Forde, from KwaZulu-Natal province,  former Chief Scout's Commissioner and one of the founders of the Patrol Leader Training Unit, received the Order of the Baobab earlier this year.

The Order of the Baobab is an award for his "outstanding leadership in the field of education and contribution to the community service through the channels of the education system and the Boy Scout Movement of South Africa".  The award was bestowed by President Jacob Zuma on 27 April 2011 in Pretoria.

Also in April, but on another occasion, the City of Cape Town has bestowed the Mayor's Medal for Youth Affairs on Hugh "Buzz" Macey for his great contribution towards the development of youth affairs in South Africa.
