Climate Change Challenge 2011 - Joint programme with German Scouts.

To qualify for the national challenge award each Cub/Scout/Rover will have to complete individual requirements, take part in the Pack/Troop meeting programmes, attend a climate change fun day in the Province/District and be part of a group doing a community project. (read more here)

The South African Scout Association has chosen 3 main weeks/days were chosen to focus the programme on, namely Water week (3

rd week of March), Mandela Day (18 July) for the service project and Arbour week (first week of September).

Because we live in the city named after Mandela, our Scouts in Nelson Mandela Bay have chosen Mandela Day for their Climate Change Fun Day.

For this project the South African Scout Association has partnered with the German Scout Association DPSG. The German Scouts will do activities just like us and we want to encourage you to contact German Scouts and start a friendship.

The western part of our province (where Nelson Mandela Bay is situated) is partnering up with the Paderborn Province in Germany. Scouts in NMB are committed to plan a really cool event. (perhaps we can even invite some German Scout Patrols to visit NMB and participate in our event). Event details soon.
