Southern wooded slopes include the Afrotomane Forest with its Cape chestnuts, black ironwood, cabbage trees, yellowwoods and white pear. The large plateau has fynbos veld with proteas and pincushions. Ther is a bird sanctuary in the Reserve. The trail along the river banks is approximately 3km long. The forest walk is 2km. There are gravel roads for drives around the reserve and mountain biking trails for novices and families. There are picnic sites availabe for visitors. This 500ha offers one huge "walkabout". About 35km from the centre of PE, this reserve has an incredible variety of indigenous flora.
